Thomas "Tommy" Claiborne Mason, Jr.

Thomas “Tommy” Claiborne Mason, Jr., 61, of Disputanta, VA passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017. Born in Hopewell, Virginia he was the son of the late Thomas Claiborne Sr. and Lilly Nosal Mason. Tommy had worked for the City of Hopewell as a Firefighter from 1978 to 1988 and had also served as a volunteer firefighter of Prince George County for many years. He enjoyed playing softball with his buddies on the Brewers and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Most recently he had worked for Stony Creek Trucking Company. Tommy was a loving husband and father, and also had a deep love for animals. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Lisa Grant Mason; two sons, Donald Scott Mason and Thomas Claiborne Mason, III; one sister, Linda Hadden; a niece, Charlene Hadden; an aunt, Katherine Lipp; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Linda Grant; brother-in-law, Jimmy Grant; sister-in-law, Roberta Grant; special friend, Pam Joyner; and his faithful feline companion, Jasper. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Homes. Interment will be private.
