Thomas "Tom" Hefty Hopkins, 79, of Hopewell, VA passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas "Tom" Hefty and Thelma Lee Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in his many callings, including a temple worker and Manager at the Bishop's Storehouse. Tom had retired from DuPont in Chesterfield after 32 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Ann Hopkins; sons, Lewis Hefty Hopkins (Michelle), of Sutherland VA, Joseph Curtis Hopkins (Amanda), of Tappahannock, VA; daughter, Margaret Ann Hopkins, of McPherson, Kansas; special daughter, Patricia Ann Foster, of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Aleasha Allen (Hoss), Joshua Clayton, Kevin Hopkins, Charity Hopkins, Rosemarie Hopkins, Marleigh Hopkins, Miranda Foster, Nolan Foster, Joshua Bredikhin, Verra Bredikhin, Hannah Grisham (Will), and Elijah Nichols; and great-grandchildren, Kaesie Melville, Kynzie Melville, Silas Allen, Skylar Clayton, Jaden Grubb, Thomas Stancil, and Grayson Myers; sisters, Patricia Lynette Pridy, Carolyn Faye Rivenbark, and Maggie Louise Henson, of Hopewell, VA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4181 Prince George Dr., Prince George, VA 23875, with Bishop Gerry Faries officiating. Interment will follow at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, September 30, 2022, at the Church. The family is being served by the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
