Una Patricia Hanke

Una Patricia (Pat) Hanke, 87, of Bracey, VA, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, 7 April, 2023, after a brief illness.
Pat was born on January 11, 1936, in Baltimore, MD, to parents Charles Albert and Aura Margaret Suit.
After marrying Henry (Hank) Hanke in 1954, she began a career as a beautician, going on to operate her own salon in Hopewell, VA, while also starting a family. She went on to have a career working at the Internal Revenue Service in Richmond and retired from civil service in 1998.
She and Henry were well known in the Square-Dancing community, active for 45 years. Pat also taught line and round dance classes. She loved gardening, golf, playing cards with her friends, and most of all, traveling. She was a past Matron of the Adah Chapter No. 7 Order of the Easter Star in Hopewell, VA, as well as a member of the Lake Gaston Ladies Club.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Henry. She is survived by her son and daughter, Donald and Donna Hanke; two grandchildren, Devin and Amanda Hanke; a great-grandson, Leo Hanke; as well as numerous cousins and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 3:00 PM, at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 5223 Blackridge Road, Blackridge, VA 23950. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway Avenue, Hopewell, VA, at 2:00 PM, followed by a graveside service at Merchant's Hope Church in Prince George, VA.
