Vance Julian Swindell, Jr. 66, of Prince George County, went to be with the Lord on November 07, 2004. He was born in Hopewell, graduated in 1955 from Hopewell High School, and spent his entire life in the Hopewell, Prince George area. He was in the National Guard as a Sergeant 1st class, and graduated as a ranger. Mr. Swindell was a life long member of the First Christian Church and served as a Elder for many years, a member of Dupont Lodge #289 AF & AM and served as Worshipful Master in 1974. He was a partner at Randolph Market from 1964-1978 and then became a partner in the S. & N. Super Market. Mr. Swindell worked as a salesman for Standard Coffee in 1987, and was a salesman for Corporate Express office supply until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vance J.and Betty Swindell, Sr., and a sister, Dixie Silvers. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara N. Swindell, three children. Debra S. Jolly, Derrell Wayne Swindell and Robin Neal Swindell, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends may visit at the First Christian Church on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 from 6:30 to 7:30 P M. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:30 P.M. with Rev. John Falk and Bob Lane, pastors, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment, with Masonic rites, will be held Thursday , November 11, 2004 at 11:00 A. M. in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chesterfield county.
