Velma Novak

Velma Riddle Novak, 87, of Spring Grove, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. She retired from Central State Hospital after over forty years of administrative service. Mrs. Novak was a lifelong member and active participant of Martins Brandon Episcopal Church. She loved growing flowers, feeding and watching birds, and time spent at her house on the river, where she happily retired to for the last twenty years. Sundays were her favorite day of the week filled with her home cooked meals, her family, laughter, and love. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her children and her adored grandchildren. Mrs. Novak was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton E. and Minnie Harrison Riddle; three sisters, Virginia R. Walker, Marion R. Eggleston, and Hazel R. Williamson; and a brother, Loren Ray Riddle. Mrs. Novak is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Novak; her son, L. Kent Novak and wife Sherry; daughters, Tina Novak Horak and husband Mark, and Rhonda Novak Wohnig and husband Dwayne; grandchildren, Brittany Horak, Lacie Horak, Taylor Horak, and Garrett Wohnig; sisters, Barbara R. Goodrich, and Joan R. Rodgers; brothers, Clifton E. Riddle, Jr. and wife Ethel, and Larry G. Riddle and wife Ginger; devoted nephew, Keith Walker; devoted niece, Kim Goodrich; honorary family, Terri, Kenny, and Kaitlyn Horak; and numerous family, friends, and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
