Velmon Mclaughlin

â??Nellâ? Velmon McLaughlin, 65, of Petersburg, passed away Monday, February 8, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Chalmas Velmon and Mattie Hathaway Edwards and widow of Bernard McLaughlin. She retired from Walmart bakery after eleven years of dedicated service. She loved Nascar and Jeff Gordon, also loved shag dancing. She is survived by her three sons, William â??Butchâ? McLaughlin, Douglas Dean McLaughlin & wife Melissa, and James McLaughlin & wife Christi; seven grandchildren, Matthew Wilson, Douglas Wayne, Lance M., Garrett W., Jessica N., Brittni J. and Sierra N. McLaughlin; one great-grandchild, Tyler Wilson; brothers, Scott and Howard Edwards of Macon, GA; three sisters, Frances Evinson of Hopewell, Ethel Mae Hayes of Sutherland, Irene Jarrett of Yale; dear friends, Claudia Brooks and Darlene Martin and a devoted friend and companion, David Brooks. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T.
