Vera Drummond Hinson, long time resident of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, entered into heaven's gates on August 16, 2022. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Josephine Drummond; and several siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Samuel Phillip Hinson; and her children by marriage, Sandra (Dennis), Ruth (Tim), and Sam Jr.; three grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; as well as her dear friend, Jean B. Vera attended Colonial Heights Assembly of God and was a firm believer in salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. Her passions included traveling and hiking, cooking and baking, farming and gardening, as well as photography. Her favorite memories are of time spent with her husband, hiking and exploring God's beautiful creations in Arizona and beyond. She loved to look at her photographs and tell of the sights they experienced while traveling. She and her husband loved to decorate at Christmas and cook huge meals for the family. The two of them worked side by side for many years in their gardens, on the farm. In her later life, she had a stroke from which she never fully recovered, but she never stopped working to beat the odds and walk again. Her dream was to take one more hike. Her family is content knowing that she is healed, walking and talking with Jesus, no longer confined to an earthly body. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 22, 2022, at 11AM at Smith Grove Methodist Church in Dinwiddie, VA. Friends and family are invited to lunch and fellowship after the service at the residence of David and Kathy Hinson. In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Vera Hinson can be made to St. Jude, Shriners Hospital, St. Joseph's Indian School, or The Wounded Warrior Project.
