Vernelle Curtis

Curtis, Vernelle Nussey, 96, of Chester, passed away on September 1, 2022, at her home. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Clarence Curtis; her parents, Joseph and Bessie Nussey; her sisters, Marion Sanders and Virginia Ward; her brother, William Nussey.

Vernelle was the matriarch of the Nussey/Curtis family, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was thought of as a second mother by several of her children's friends. She is survived by her three children, Daphne Curtis, Marian Perkinson (Billy), Clarence "Trip" Curtis III; granddaughter, Ashley; great-grandson, Cameron, step-granddaughters, Mandy Pallett (Chris) and Mindy Rissler (Michael); five step-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hailey, Brittany, Landon, and Jackson; loving nieces and nephews. Vernelle was a member of Chester United Methodist Church.

A visitation will be held at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 11:00 A.M., at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, Virginia, followed by a reception at Chester United Methodist Church.
