Vernie Davis

Vernie Rathbone Davis, 82, of Petersburg, died Friday, October 29, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Will and Lola Nash Rathbone and the widow of Burlin J. Davis. She was also predeceased by two sons, Monford Davis and Joney Davis; two grandsons, Barry and Tommy Davis; four sisters, Annie Mae Ball, Carrie Hagen,Cora Ford and Ora Mae Haynes and five brothers, Hershell Rathbone, John Rathbone, Loy Rathbone, Ernest “Peewee” Rathbone and Albert Rathbone. Surviving her are three daughters, Maude Edmonds of Petersburg, Maebell Phillingane and her husband Lee of Prince George and Shirley Beasley and her husband John of Macon, Ga; two sons, Leonard Davis and his wife Anna of Pax, W. Va., and Clyde Davis of Petersburg, two brothers, Troy Rathbone of Chesterfield and Charlie Rathbone and his wife Pauline of Dinwiddie; a loving sister-in-law Bessie Rathbone; fifteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, November 1, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Horning officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
