Veronica "Love" Elder Williams

Veronica "Love" Elder Williams, 81, of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2023. Born on March 21, 1942, and raised in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph "Dockey" Elder and Mary Archer Elder. Love was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Duncan "WD" Williams; and her son, Dwayne Neil Wohnig; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins that were so dear to her. She is survived by her loving partner of 25 years, John Sandford; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Wohnig; grandson, Garrett Wohnig; granddaughters, Jennifer Horton, Amanda Gaddy, and Rebecca Potter; as well as numerous extended family and friends that she considered family. Love lit up a room with her sophistication, sense of humor and wit. She will be missed by so many family and friends; especially her classmates from Petersburg High School Class of 1960, the Greatest Class to ever come out of PHS! The family will receive friends Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., at J.T. Morriss & Son Petersburg Chapel. A graveside service will follow immediately at 3:00 p.m. in Blandford Cemetery.
