Vicki Peaden Sanford

August 12, 1957 — October 25, 2016

Vicki Peaden Sanford, 59, of Hopewell, went to be with her Dad at the best BBQ joint in Heaven on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Survived by the love she found on Redhill, Alvin “Sandy” Sanford, Jr, her stories and life will live on. Born August 12, 1957 to Peggy L. Peaden and the late Edward F. Peaden in Greenville, NC, barefoot and full of life. At a young age she became “the boss.” She made friends wherever she went and became a collector of many things: cats, owls, and people. She devoted 28 years to the cheerleaders and football kids of Hopewell Quarterback/HYFL league. She could always be found with a group of kids, supporting them or simply being a mom. A coach, an advocate and a leader. She had a thing for long hair and adventure, the beginning of a life-long love story. Forty-one years of marriage, but a love story that started “on a split railed fence.” Two-hearts destined for richness, a happily ever after full of Atlantic Beach trips, station wagons, race cars, dirt, cats, dance recitals, river days, lunch trips, kids, and most importantly, love and laughter. She is preceded in death by her beloved dad, Edward F. Peaden; and father-in-law, Alvin Sanford, Sr. In addition to her husband, Sandy, she leaves behind her mother, Peggy Peaden; daughters, and their spouses, Kimberly and John Walker, Ashley and Brandon Taylor and Katie and Matt Shirey; grandchildren, Nathan, Katelyn and Chance; her loving sisters, Sharon Peaden-Goulder (David), Tammy King (Kerry) and Lisa Peaden-Acord (Ray); mother-in-law, Anne Sanford; and numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws, friends of the Moose, HQL/HYFL, all her adopted children, and of course her buddy/bestfriend, Rocky Sanford. She was a born leader, a tough lover and will be remembered for her smile, whit, and passion for people. A funeral service will be held at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Hopewell Youth Football League. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
