Almentine Rainey Phipps

Almentine Rainey Phipps, 105, widow of Fredrick W Phipps, Jr. and the daughter of the late Charles Wellington and Almentine Abernathy Rainey died on March 9, 2020. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Hopewell, VA, and the Retired Teachers Association, after having taught school for many years. Survivors are a daughter, Victoria Bendall, a son, Frederick W. Phipps III (Judy), six grandchildren: Sendella P. King (Greg), Rebecca P. Stallings (Stephen), Michelle P. Upton (Richard), Sarah P. Blevins (Chris), Patrick H. McDonough III, (April), Jonathan P. McDonough, and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian R. Carraway, and brothers, Charles A. and Oris M Rainey. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral. Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial to be held 2:00 p.m. at Asbury Memorial Cemetery, 20600 Boydton Plank Road, McKenney, VA.
