Virgie Lenna (Jenkins) Parker, age 97, of Prince George, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011. She was born October 25, 1913, near Bryson City in Swain County, NC, the daughter of the late John Dee and Hattie Victoria (DeHart) Jenkins. Virgie was preceded in death by her husband of over 57 years, Gordon D. Parker; four brothers, Paul William Jenkins, Claude Windel Jenkins, Porter Oscar Jenkins, and Harold Woodrow Jenkins; and a sister, Mary Lena (Jenkins) Pace. Virgie is survived by two sons, James Hoyle Parker and wife, Gwen, and his former wife, Barbara, and Jerry Ray Parker and wife, Sharon; eleven grandchildren, Mary Ann and husband, Alan, Edward, Angela and husband, Rob, Kristian, David and wife, Taska, Charlene, and Christine and husband, Donny; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home (3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester) on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
