Virginia Bendall, 100, longtime resident of Waverly and Sussex County, went to sleep in Jesus on Thursday, April 26, 2007. Frieda Virginia Rank Bendall was born in Blackstone, Virginia on February 27, 1907 to Carl L. and Caroline Feil Rank.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, J. M. Bendall, and 5 sons, Alfred Carl (Freddie), Marvin Edward, Daniel William, Wallace Knight and David Ray as well as 1 brother and 3 sisters.
Virginia Bendall is survived by 4 sons, Joseph Mason Bendall, Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, Dr. Richard Walter Bendall and his wife, Peggy, Henry John Bendall, and Lee Samuel Bendall, all of Disputanta, VA; 4 daughters, Mildred Virginia Koliadko and her husband, Dr. Joseph, of Hopewell, Marie Carolyn Bendall, of Silver Spring MD, Rosaleen Leira Wood and her husband, Huston of Freestone, CA, Ruth Ann Imbraguglio and her husband, Paul of Silver Spring, MD; 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and 32 grandchildren and great-grandchildren by marriage.
Time to visit with family and friends will be Monday, April 30, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, VA. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at The Petersburg Seventh-day Adventist Church, 300 Poplar Drive, Petersburg, VA 23805, followed immediately by lunch and visitation in the church fellowship hall. Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Old Bendall Plantation Cemetery on Bendall Lane off route 602 (Cabin Point Road), Disputanta, VA 23842 .
