Boykin, Virginia Mae Watkins of Matoaca, formerly of Glen Allen and Chesterfield, died on Friday, August 12, 2011. Born in Nottoway County on June 27, 1920, she was preceded in death by her parents, Willard M. and Mary B. Watkins, sisters, Mildred Watkins, Ruth Mott and Frances Conner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Junius E. Butler and husband Gibson L. Boykin. She is survived by her devoted brother, James D. Watkins (Maude). Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, her only child, James L. Watkins (Dolores) of Matoaca. She is survived by four grandchildren, Dr. Michael L. Watkins, (Alissa), Richlands, WA; Richard A. Watkins, Petersburg; Suzanne Anderson, Chester and Lisa Roberts (Dwight) of Chesterfield. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Elaine Biedler (Andrew); Laura Barker (Michael); Jennifer Shelton (Benjamin); Joshua Roberts (Brittany); Meaghan and Alana Watkins. Virginia was happiest when surrounded by her great-great-grandchildren, who always kept a smile on her face. They are: Tucker and Reagan Biedler; Benjamin Barker; John Simmons; Haylie, Noah, and Allie Shelton; and Haley Roberts. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Virginia loved her family and remained close to a special cousin, Helen Watkins, of MD. Her beloved Chihuahua, â??Troublesâ? was her constant companion for many years. Virginia retired from Liggett and Myers Tobacco Co., after 30 years of service and was employed at Johnston-Willis Hospital for 15 years. She was a member of Winnâ??s Church Road Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA. 23805. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM, Monday, August 15, 2011, at the Petersburg chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son. A funeral service will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday August 16, 2011, at the Funeral Home with a committal service to follow at 1:30 PM in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, VA. 23222.
