Virginia Jernigan Burnett, 86, of Petersburg, passed away Thursday September 10, 2009. She was predeceased by her parents James L. & Lona Cheeley Jernigan and two brothers. She was an active member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter: Lona Burnett Butler of Colonial Heights, son: Orriss W. Burnett & wife Lynn of Colonial Heights, grandchildren: Mark T. Payne & wife Karen, Kelly Clements Amos & husband Steve of Dinwiddie, Mathew W. Burnett of Colonial Heights, James D. Burnett & wife Charity of Dinwiddie, and 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T.Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Sunday September 13, 2009 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A graveside service will be held in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George Co., on Monday September 14, 2009 at 10:00 AM., with the rev. Andy Brockelman officiating.
