Virginia Clarke

Virginia Irene Lamb Clarke (Jeanie) of Hopewell died at home at peace with our Lord and surrounded by her family on June 16, 2011, at the age of 82. She was predeceased by her parents Clarence Edward and Annie Belle Hensley Lamb, four brothers and one sister, and by her former husband Edwin S. Clarke, Jr. She is survived by her three children, Joanne Clarke Gunter, Peggy Clarke Nuckols, and Edwin Summerfield Clarke III (Suzanne), her three grandchildren, Brian Douglas Nuckols, Beverly Nuckols Hall (Joe), and Ryan Summerfield Clarke (fiancé Amanda Fogleman), and her newly born great grandchild, Brynn Elizabeth Hall, along with several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Jeanie was a very nurturing and caring person and was a nurse for many years with the Hopewell Health Department until her retirement in 1991. She had many caring friends whose constant contact gave her much pleasure throughout her life. Jeanie loved St. Johnâ??s Episcopal Church in Hopewell and was an active member of the Altar Guild there for many years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing bridge, reading, and most of all the many joyful visits with her children, grandchildren, and dear friends. She was a loving and much loved person. We wish to thank her many Hospice of Virginia caregivers especially Joyce Lynch, Juanita Jennifer, and Arlene Drewry for their many hours of dedicated service to our mother. We also thank Ryan Clarke and Amanda Fogleman for their loving care which made our motherâ??s last months much more comfortable. Visitation will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Hopewell from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2011. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at St. Johnâ??s Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011.
