Virginia Taylor Coates

Virginia T. Coates, 90, of Chesterfield County, VA, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oaker G.; and her children, Neil, Jenny, and Keon. She is survived by her children, Gary and Janice, Ernie, Glenna and Angie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeff and Jennifer, Michelle, Travis, and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brooke, Austin, Katey, and Grayson; great-great grandbabies, Magic, Olivia, Melly, and Sadie brought her even more joy these last couple of years. Virginia spent her life taking care of those around her through her work in the cafeteria at Beulah Elementary School, and then 42 years of driving a school bus for Chesterfield County. Her favorite things to do were helping to raise any and all the kids, cutting grass, and working in her garden. Mrs. Coates has always been a well respected and admired name in the county; however, her most cherished titles would always be: Mom, Ma, Mama, Granny, Nanny, Nana, and Nina. She took great pride in her family, and taught us all the meaning of unconditional love. A hole is left in our hearts; but, we are comforted knowing the welcome home she received from her many loved ones waiting for her in heaven. Hopefully in a field with a nice riding lawnmower. From her family, we thank all who knew our angel to share a smile today thinking of her happy and carefree.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, from 5 PM to 6 PM, for the family only, and from 6 PM to 8 PM for friends. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 11 AM, at Sunset Memorial Park.
