Virginia Callis Crowder, 86, daughter of the late John R. and Bertha Hines Callis, passed away Tuesday, April 02, 2013 at her residence in Sutherland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Hugh Watkins Crowder and daughter, Linda Lee Crowder. Virginia was a member of Ocran United Methodist Church for most of her adult life. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons, Hugh Watkins Crowder, Jr. and his wife, Ruthann, and John Wrenall Crowder and his wife, Theresa; grandchildren, Franklin Lee Crowder and his wife, Carly, John Michael Crowder and his wife, Sheri, Tara Crowder Forsman and her husband, Mike, and Mark Watkins Crowder and his wife, Tabitha; niece, Sandra Lynn Callis and Kim; and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the day shift nurses and physical therapists at Dinwiddie Health and Rehab for their excellent care while Virginia was there. Also, her two special nurses at SRMC, Jesse and Crystal, for their above and beyond care while Virginia was a patient there. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6th at Ocran United Methodist, Sutherland, VA. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
