Virginia Nelson

Nelson, Virginia May Arnold, 84, of Dinwiddie County, widow of Mendel Ancil Nelson, died peacefully at home August 28, 2010. The daughter of the late Harry and Anna Arnold, she was born in Weldon, PA. on June 4, 1926. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Petersburg Ward). A graduate of Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, she was a member of the Whoâ??s Who in Professional Nursing. She retired from the U. S. Kenner Army Hospital in 1989 as a Supervisory Clinical Nurse in the Surgical Nursing Section, and was a former employee of Southside Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Boutcher, a grandson, Richard Ponton, and niece Debbie Boutcher. She is survived by five children, Sandra Snitkin and husband Lou of White Plains, NY, David Nelson and wife Beth of Chesterfield, Charlotte Woodcock and husband Kenneth of Chester, Kriss Glass and husband Clayton of Petersburg, and Michael Nelson and wife Elizabeth of Mooresville, NC. She is survived by five grandchildren, Diana Bach of Columbia, MO, Sean Nelson of Chesterfield, Jesse Woodcock of Chester, Samuel Nelson and Kendall Nelson both of Mooresville, NC. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA.
