Virginia Atwater Parr, 90, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Hopewell Healthcare Center. Mrs. Parr was an active and Honorary Life Member of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church. She and her sister, Grace Renn, founded Atwaterâ??s Dance Studio where she taught dancing. Mrs. Parr and her husband, Elmo, were owners and operators of Elmoâ??s Barbeque and she was active as a Girl Scout Leader for 15 years. Mrs. Parr was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur A. and Nina Bell Atwater and her husband, Elmo M. Parr. She is survived by a daughter, Dale Parr Dailey of Hopewell, a son, A. Leslie Parr and wife, Marie of Virginia Beach, three grandchildren, Shay Samuels of Chester, Ashley N. Parr-Henderson and husband, Jerald, and Lesley M. Parr, two great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Ryen Henderson, all of Raleigh, NC, a sister, Marian A. Williamson of Hopewell, a brother, Charles A. Atwater of Prince George and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with The Rev. Ed Bellis, pastor of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery.
