Virginia Hornsby Woodbury of Chester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2011 at her residence at The Hermitage in Richmond, Virginia. She was born in Belle Haven, Virginia on October 10, 1921 to Ernest Wiley Hornsby and Helen Wyatt Hornsby. She was predeceased by her husband, Lynn W. Woodbury; her parents; her brother, Beverly Kerr Hornsby; and her beloved niece, Susan Hornsby Crank of Lynchburg, Va. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Barnes Hornsby; her devoted niece, Jane Hornsby Hall; her dedicated care giving cousin, Steve Mapp; and several great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Woodbury attended Chester United Methodist Church. She was a 1939 graduate of Central High School in Keller, Va. and she proudly served with the WAACâ??s during World War II which allowed her to experience her love of travel. She was much loved by her family and many friends. She was devoted to all of her animals over the years and volunteered many hours to the local animal shelter. A Memorial service will be held at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Chesterfield Chapel, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, Va. at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011. There will be a reception for family and friends at The Crossings at Ironbridge, 6701 Ironbridge Pkwy at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local S.P.C.A., Chester United Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice.
