Our beloved, Vivian Victor Mitchell, was called home to live with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 23, 2021.
Vivian was born on March 12, 1945, to Fellington Mitchell and Maggie "Tantie" Mitchell (nee Munro), in Grenada, WI. Vivian attended the Beaulieu Roman Catholic school. As a young man, he loved to play cricket, enjoyed swimming and being outdoors. His tall stature as a youth coined him the nickname "FIG." At a young age, Vivian left Grenada and lived in Trinidad and Tobago, where he worked in various trades.
Words cannot fully express Vivian's life. He was very giving and enjoyed helping others. Vivian loved his family and the finer things in life. Although soft-spoken, he could speak up when something was not right or unjust. To his children, he was a great teacher and motivator. Vivian encouraged them to surround themselves with positive-minded people. He was the type of parent that focused on who you were becoming and not on your limitations. After each encounter, he always had a kind word, "Take care of yourself" or "I pray for you all the time."
Vivian was predeceased by sisters Agnes Lambert, Helen Cummings, Vanita Phillips (nee Mitchell), Elsa Ferguson, Sheila Mitchell, Lucille Mitchell; and brothers Vincent Mitchell and Carlton Mitchell.
Vivian is survived by his two sisters Jean Thomas (nee Mitchell), Janet Penny (nee Mitchell), brother Andrew Mitchell and brother-in-law Gregory Penny; children Auska DeCoteau, Debbie Keeys (nee Mitchell), Jeffrey Mitchell, Tanisha Mitchell; son-in-law Orson Keeys and daughter-in-law Agatha DeCoteau. He is survived by five grandchildren, Josell DeCoteau, Shenelle DeCoteau, Nicole Keeys, Benjamin Keeys, and Tera – Rachelle Mitchell. Vivian was loved by many great-nieces, great-nephews, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and devoted friends throughout the United States, Grenada, Trinidad & Tobago, England, and Canada.
