Vivian Grace McNeely Snead of Chesterfield, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Vivian was born on June 26, 1924 in Amherst, Virginia. Vivian will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. A woman of strength, courage, great joy, and laughter, she lit up any room with her smile and welcoming personality. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Howard Snead; parents, Bernard and Mary McNeely; siblings, Lena Spence, Eunice Binion, Thelma Martin, Helen Douglas, Edith Martin, Kathleen Smith, Harold McNeely and Julian McNeely. Those surviving to cherish her memory are her children; Mitchell Snead and his wife, Nancy, Jennifer Snead Byrd and her husband, Kevin, and Judy Snead Adams. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jason Snead (Kristin), Nathan Snead (Stephanie), Jocelyn Pullen (Doug), David Jessup (Kelly), Nicholas Snead, and Daniel Byrd. She is also survived by her precious great-grandchildren; Marin, Clara, Ella, Nancy, Anne Mitchell, Harper, Jake, Cay and “baby boy Pullen” who will arrive in April. Vivian is also survived by her siblings; Lois Reynolds, Nellie Jennings, Charles McNeely, Barbara Rader, Joan Arthur, and Norma Williams, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Bethia United Methodist Church, 10700 Winterpock Road, Chesterfield, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior at 10:30 am. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Faye Osterbind, Vivian’s friend and card playing buddy, for her years of helping care for Vivian, as well as Gentiva Hospice staff.
