Wallace Elmer Davenport, 87, a former resident of Chester, died Saturday, March 4, 2006, in Gloucester, VA. Mr. Davenport was a retired pipe fitter with Allied Chemical Corporation, a member of Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge # 1472 and a 50 year member of the Glen Allen Masonic Lodge #131. Mr. Davenport was one who loved unconditionally and tried to find goodness in everyone. He loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed working with his hands in his garden and in his workshop building furniture. Everyone in his family and many of his friends are the recipients of his generosity and have desks, chairs and cedar chests made by him. Even in poor health, he never lost his zest for life or his sense of humor. He set a fine example for us by placing his family and friends as his priorities. He is now in Heaven with the love of his life, our Mom. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton A and Inez Corpening Davenport and his wife, Kathryn Neathery Davenport. Surviving are a daughter, Becky D. Heath of Gloucester, VA, two sons, Wally Davenport of Wendell, NC and Mike Davenport of Woodland WA.; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 8, 2006 from 2 ? 3 p.m. in the Hopewell Chapel of J. T Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with The Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson, officiating. .Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park in Chester.
