Walter Russell Burton, age 90, of Chester, VA passed away on Monday, July 9, 2007. He was born in Chester, the son of the late Walter F. and Edmonia Richardson Burton. He was predeceased by his wife, Grace Alma Burton and son, David Russell Burton. Mr. Burton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, served in WWII, and was a member of the military order of the Purple Heart. He was also a loyal member of Chester United Methodist Church for 80 years. He was a charter member of Chester Volunteer Fire Dept, Station #1, a past member of Chester Civitan Club and also a past member of the American Legion in Post 196. Mr. Burton is survived by a daughter, Barbara B. Micou and her husband, Paul F. Micou of Chester; brother, Wesley F. Burton and wife, Doris; sister, Alease Butler; daughter-in-law, Judy Burton of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Lee Ann Burton and Will Burton of Orlando, FL, Matthew Micou and wife, Lisa of Chicago IL, Paul Micou and Frayser Micou of Richmond, VA; and five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Thursday, July 12, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will follow there Friday at 10 a.m. with interment in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
