Walter Bruce Covington

Walter "Bruce" Covington, 71, died July 15, 2022. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Payne Covington and Robert L. Covington.
Bruce is survived by his daughters, Alison O. Covington and Lindsey B. Covington; grandchildren, Madison D. Bailey and Brendan Walter Bailey; life partner, Barbra L. McLean; brother, Brad Covington; sisters, Susan Sublett, Frances Cox, and Polly Covington; aunt and uncles, Gladys and Herbert Payne, and Josh Knight; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and protégé, Daniel Armstrong.
Bruce graduated from Crewe High School and Danville Technical Institute. He was the owner of Covington Mechanical for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing golf, riding his motorcycle, gardening, and tinkering in his shop. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his sweet daughters, grandchildren, old friends, and his dogs.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Crewe Baptist Church in Crewe, VA. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dallas Smith officiating. Lunch will be served by the ladies of the church following the service.
