Walter Edward Johnson, 87, of Colonial Heights died April 10, 2005. He was predeceased by his wife, Lula Powell Johnson and his sister, Margaret Vaughan, and was the son of the late L. Parker and Edna Vaden Johnson. He was also the former owner of Johnson?s Laundry and Dry Cleaners and veteran of World War II. Walter loved his community as was demonstrated by his numerous civic and professional appointments. These appointments included serving on the board of the Richmond-Petersburg Toll Road Authority for eight years as appointed by the governor of Virginia. He also served as past president of the Colonial Heights Chamber of Commerce and had many dedicated years with the Southside Virginia Emergency Crew Board. He is survived by a brother, Ralph Johnson and wife Ann of Colonial Heights; nephews, Parker Johnson and wife Sharon of Colonial Heights and Sidney Johnson of Prince George; great niece, Stacy Belcher; great nephew, Camden Johnson. Other survivors include Ann Russell of Colonial Heights; four step-daughters, Pat Kile, Bobbie Balch and Jeannie Balch all of Colonial Heights and Annette Russell of St. Cloud, Fla.; one step-son, Mark Russell of Colonial Heights and beloved step grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park on Wednesday, April 13th at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service tonight, April 12th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
