Walter Scott “Panama” Norman Jr., 71, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021. Born and raised in South Boston, VA until the age of 10, he resided in Hopewell, VA. Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter Norman, Sr. Walter was a truck driver for the majority of his professional life, but most recently was a utilities locator within the Media and Communications Equipment Worker Occupational Group. He was also a member of the American Legion and Sons of the Confederacy. He enjoyed playing the guitar, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, metal-detecting, researching and restoring historical findings, and offering a comedic relief and sharing stories with a smile to friends, family, and strangers alike. He enjoyed attending concerts at the Beacon Theater with his wife and liked building antennas and long range radios. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of life and his life experiences with his grandchildren. Walter was a loving husband, caring son and brother, and doting grandfather and friend to many and will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Tina Louise Norman; mother, Margaret Ann Sanders; stepmother, Annalise Norman; daughter, Wendy Craftson; stepchildren, Maynard W. Hughes, Amy Cardona, and Angela Hughes; 8 grandchildren, Caine Norman, Mia Norman, Autumn Samuel, Thomas Hughes, Myah Rivas, Aiden Cardona, Nathan Hughes, and Khaleesi Cardona; sister, Susan Summerson; stepsisters, Mary Howerton and Joan Stalnaker; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members. The family will receive friends at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home – Hopewell Chapel, 820 W. Broadway Avenue, on Wednesday, November 3 from 6-8 PM.
