Walter Forrest Snead

Snead, Walter Forrest, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Walter was born on November 15, 1928 in Schuyler, Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Cox Snead and two sons, Christopher F., wife Sally, Michael Lee Snead, wife Vanessa and their children, Matthew, Amy, and Andrew. He was preceded in death by three sisters; Beatrice Halterman, Alma Teachey, and Joyce McLaughlin. He is survived by three nieces; two nephews and long-time family friend, Rae T. Gayhart. Walter graduated from John Marshall High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He retired after 39 years with Electric Motor and Repair, now Electrical and Mechanical Resources Inc., and was a long time member of Bethany Place Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Kindred Hospice Care for their kind and thoughtful care over the last 11 months. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service to follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
