Wamer Mayes

Wamer Lewis Mayes, 69, of Waverly passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. He was a member of Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad for over 25 years where he served in many positions such as Captain and First Lieutenant and received the honor of Squadsman of the year on multiple occasions. He was the son of the late Lewis Patrick Mayes and Mildred Elaine Lewis Mayes.
Mr. Mayes is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. Mayes; sons, Wamer Lewis Mayes, Jr. and wife, Sherry, William Frederick Mayes and wife, Amy, and Andrew Wade Mayes and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Katie, Taylor, Ally, Lewis, Emma, Owen, Dylan, and Mason; sisters, Dorothy Mayes and Pattie Mae Upton; brother, Hugh Mayes; brother-in-law, William H. Morris and wife, Joyce and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Wakefield from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Waverly Cemetery.
