On Saturday, January 7, 2023, Wanda Teresa Harrison Blake, age 63, passed away peacefully at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA. She was born on March 16, 1959, in Petersburg, VA.
Wanda graduated as valedictorian of Prince George High School, Prince George, VA, in June 1977. She matriculated from Howard University, DC, Magna Cum Laude, in 1981, with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (B.B.A.) focused on accounting. Early in her career, Wanda earned a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation for the state of Pennsylvania, which she used to build an illustrious accounting career serving in several senior executive positions such as Controller for Swedish Match, North America, and most recently, Director for Fahrenheit Consulting Group.
Wanda had many accomplishments and honors, including being the 2014 Recipient of Style Weekly's Executive Women in Business Award. And even after retirement, Wanda remained busy by starting her independent consulting firm in October 2018, Wanda T. Blake Consulting, LLC.
She was a member of Cawson Street Church of Christ, in Hopewell, VA. Wanda was co-organizer of the "Lads to Leaders" program and the co-instructor for "Pearls" a teen girl's program.
She was preceded in death by her father, Olander Lee Harrison; mother, Cora Jackson Harrison; a brother, Lander Odell Harrison; and sister, Barbara Harrison Patrick.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Raymond J. Blake, Sr.; two wonderful sons, Raymond Blake, Jr. of Jersey City, NJ., and Jeffrey Blake of Chesterfield, VA; one brother-in-law, Edward Patrick of Prince George, VA; one aunt, Bettie Harrison of Dinwiddie VA; devoted family and friends, Abigail Price-Williams of Miami, FL., Chanie Jordan of Mechanicsville VA., Cindy Patrick of Richmond, VA., and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Friday, January 13, 2022 at Cawson Street Church of Christ. Family will receive friends for visitation starting an hour prior, at 10:00 a.m. A committal service will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Virginia Veteran Cemetery at Amelia.
