Wanell “Polly” Fulkerson, 90, of Petersburg, VA passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Dinwiddie County. Born on March 16, 1925 in Green County, TN she was the daughter of the late Buford Guy and Leta Viola Staten; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Niles Fulkerson; two sons, Fred Fulkerson and Harold Rex Fulkerson; two brothers, Rex Staten and Gene Staten; and three sisters, Eunice Boggs, Geraldine Morelock and Charlotte Coleman. She enjoyed playing Bingo, shopping and visiting with family and friends. Polly is survived by three sisters, Ruth Simpson, Alice Booher and Patsy Pierce; six children, Sylvia Hutchens, Sandra Barber (Billy), Steve Fulkerson (Jerri), Cathy Barber (David), Tammy Stapes (Thomas) and Barbara Meredith (Gregory); fifteen loving grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. The family would like to thank Karen Myers for taking care of their mama during her declining health. They cannot express enough how awesome she was and the warm smile and friendship she gave to all. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 6616 Boydton Plank Rd., N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ken Hendricks, pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Hopewell, officiating.
