Waverly Gene Lunsford

Waverly Gene Lunsford “Whitey”, age 74, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away on May 12, 2016 following a period of declining health. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Waverly Lunsford and Dorothy Condon Lunsford. Gene is survived by his wife, Carol Hogwood Lunsford and daughter, Laurie Renee Lunsford. He is also survived by a sister, Anita Relyea and husband, Bob; nephews, Michael Oslin and wife, Linda, and David Oslin; niece, Susan Oslin, several cousins, and a very caring aunt, Audrey Lunsford. NASCAR races, fishing, hunting, classic cars, the beach, and his family were some of his favorite pastimes. His two beloved pets, Tayleigh and Cricket, brought him hours of happiness and enjoyment. Gene was a graduate of Petersburg High School, a member of West End Baptist Church, and the Crater Antique Car Club of Petersburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Brendle officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service.
