Wayne Leroy Tunstall

Wayne L. Tunstall, 70, of Chester, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at MCV Hospital with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Tunstall. Wayne was a proud Veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He later went on to retire after 32 years of service as Senior Battalion Chief of Chesterfield Fire Department. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy; five children, Philip Tunstall (Monica), Teresa Lloyd (Tim), Jeffrey Powell, Beth Powell (C.J.), and Jesse “J.T.” Powell (Kim); 12 grandchildren, Steven, Chris, David, Daniel, Heather, Cassie, Natalie, Jesse Jr., Adam, Corey, Caleigh, and Justin; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Carly, Lola, and Grant; sister, Karen Reams; brother-in-law, Louis “Lou” Reeves; and niece, Stephanie Battle. Wayne enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his dog “Tiny”. The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Tang, and the cardiac staff at MCV for their care and support during Wayne’s illness, and to Brenda Thompson, his home nurse. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Chester United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
