Wesley Henry Lampe, 87, of Carson, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa. Born in Battle Creek, Iowa, he was the son of the late William Henry and Anna Theresa Brosamley Lampe. He served in the U. S. Army for 30 years, including service in WWII, Korea and Vietnam, retiring in 1969 from Fort Lee, VA with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a longtime member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church where he was active with the Tuesday Workers. Wes was a 50 year member of Edwards Lodge No. 308 A. F. & A. M., serving as Worshipful Master in 1986 and 2002. He also served as the lodge historian and was recently granted honorary membership. Wes also held membership in various other Masonic organizations including: Stony Creek Chapter No. 126 Order of the Eastern Star, of which he was a Past Patron, Emporia Chapter No. 46 Order of the Eastern Star, Petersburg Union Royal Arch Chapter No. 7, Appomattox Commandery No. 6 Knights Templar and Harmony Court No. 11 Order of the Amaranth. He was a friend and supporter of the Jacksonville Girls Home and was an avid baker, bird watcher, gardener, and fisherman. Mr. Lampe was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Donna F. Lampe. He is survived by his children, Debra Abadie of Newport News, VA, Kathleen White and husband, Charlie of Chesapeake, VA, William Lampe of Chester, Teresa Koser and husband, Ron of Carson, VA and Duane Lampe of Des Moines, IO; grandchildren, Megan Palmer and husband, Dan, Jay Abadie, Alison Voss and husband, Marc Fernandes, Donna Ludwig and husband, Mike, Crystal Dickerson and husband, Jeff, Cheryl White, David Lewis, Paul Koser, Kelsey Koser, Brianna Koser and Kameran Lampe; great-grandchildren, Austin, Gabe, Hayley and Makayla Fernandes, Alexis, Delaney and Andrew Ludwig and Emma Dickerson; sister, Annabele Wacker; and a beloved niece, Marilyn Mead and husband, Barry. Masonic Rites will be performed at 7:00 PM Thursday, November 8, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service followed by visitation until 8:30 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 12715 Acorn Drive, Petersburg (Dinwiddie County), VA 23805 with the Rev. David A. Holbert officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oak Grove UMC Building Fund, 12715 Acorn Drive, Petersburg, VA 23805.
