Wilburn Orvil Keener, Sr., 78, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Born in Bumpkin County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Richard and Edith Keener. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Bobby Keener; niece, Theresa Massenburg; and dear friend and racing buddy, Junie Donlevey. Mr. Keener was an avid fisherman, enjoyed racing, and collectable cars. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Keener and November 13, 2014 would have marked their 50 wedding anniversary; son, Wilburn “Joey” Orvil Keener, Jr., and his wife, Karla; granddaughter, Allison Cheyene Keener of Oakland, Iowa; brother, Lewis Keener and his wife, Christine, of Richmond; nieces, Lynn, Terry, and Lisa; sisters-in-law, Sharon Powell and her husband, Charles, of Carson, Sheila Thurston and her husband, Robert, of Powhatan, and Shirley Figg of Hopewell; brother-in-law, Ernest McNeil and his wife, Trisha; friends, Judy Boyd and her husband, Gary, and their daughter, Missy, of Chesterfield, Cindy Thompson and her husband, Bill, of Richmond, and Carolyn Swann. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service with visitation to follow until 8 pm.
