William Henry Banty, Jr., 91, of Chester, passed away at his home on Monday, October 28, 2024. He was born November 21, 1932, in Southampton County, to the late Ada Mae Revelle and William Henry Banty, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Naomi Frye Banty; his eight brothers and sisters; and two beloved grandchildren, Hunter Banty and Amber Singleton.
Mr. Banty had a long and successful career in auto mechanics in service to Woody's Chevrolet and Colonial Honda. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. Mr. Banty enjoyed fishing and travelling to NASCAR races with family and friends. He was known to all as an honest, hard-working, respected, Christian man who was self-less to a fault.
He is survived by his four children, Wayne Banty (Debbi), Susan Brooks, David Banty (Genene), and Joan Singleton (George). His ten surviving grandchildren include Kassie Singleton, Harrison Brooks, Blake Banty, Caleb Brooks, Brooke Banty, Taylor Banty, Emma Banty, Shane Pratt, Ashley Crist, and Sam Mingloski; and five great-grandchildren, Jacqueline, Kinsley, Nash, Memphis, and Blakely.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Chester Chapel, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hunter Banty Memorial Scholarship, Tussing Elementary School, 5501 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
