William Carlton Bass, 96, of Stony Creek, VA passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Born in Dinwiddie County, VA he was the son of the late William James Oliver Bass and Susie Ethel Goodrich Bass; and was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Thelma Call Bass; and his brother, Lawrence Bass. Mr. Bass was a lifelong farmer, who had won many awards to include being the 1973 State Champion Peanut Producer. He was a member of Edwards Lodge #308 A.F. & A. M. in Stony Creek and was one of the founding members of the Old Hickory Hunt Club. Mr. Bass was an avid turkey and deer hunter. He is survived by his daughter, Sue Ellen Kennedy; a grandson, Brent Lewis (Angela); one granddaughter, Shelley Campbell (Jeffrey); and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Lewis. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the Bass Family Cemetery in Stony Creek. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S.
