William Eugene Batten

William Eugene Batten, 80, of Hopewell, passed away, Sunday, September 11, 2016. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy L. Batten; parents, Adrian Gray and Dollie May Faucette Batten; brothers, Ray and Charles Batten; sister, Mary Edna. William retired from the City of Hopewell after 40 years of service and served four years in the National Guard. He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Batten and fiancée, Ray Pentecost; son, Russell Batten and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Bobby Parker, Jennifer Rhodes and husband, Charles, Russell Batten, Jr. and Carol Batten; great-grandchildren, Charles, Gavin, Christian, Lauren, Katelynn and Alison; brothers, Jimmy, Wayne and Vernon; sisters, Myrtle and Mavis, and numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 3512 Virginia St. Hopewell, VA. 23860; where a service will be held, 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016, with Kenneth Hendricks officiating.
