William Douglas “Doug” Baucom went to be with our LORD on January 15th, 2021, at the age of 85.
Doug was born on October 6, 1935 and raised in Marshville, North Carolina where he first started his lifelong love of cars. Doug grew up tinkering with cars of all sorts, something he continued to enjoy his whole life. There was always a “project” in the garage he was working on.
Doug met Sib when they were both young. The story goes that the first time they met, she and several friends had climbed up in a tree to surprise a friend. Doug and his bride Sib were married for 62 years.
Doug joined the military, and traveled the world with Sib, serving tours of duty in several different countries. After 20 years of military service, Doug retired and went on to his second career with Dominion Energy, where he worked for another 20 years before he retired. Once he retired, Doug was able to turn more attention to cars and spent several years restoring antique vehicles. One of his favorites was his 57 Chevrolet.
We are sure he is now with the LORD and has rolled up his sleeves and has found his next project to work on. Doug will join both his mother and father (William Vann Baucom and Patricia Thomas Baucom) and his grandson, William Blake Baucom.
He is survived by his bride, Sib (Sylvia White Baucom) and his two children Katheryn Baucom Curtis (Chris) and their daughter (Whitney Curtis) and Mike Baucom (Kristy), and children (Kelly Baucom Smith, Matthew Baucom and Reilly Baucom) and his two brothers Tyndall Baucom (Dwala) and Robert Baucom (Dee), and several great-grandchildren.
Services for Doug will be limited to family only at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Chester. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Organization,
