William "Bill" Verle Duncan

November 25, 1936 — March 11, 2021

William “Bill” Verle Duncan, 84, of Hopewell, VA, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 11, 2021. He was born and raised in Floyd, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter E. Duncan, Sr.; Maggie Griffith, and Howard Griffith; and he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Mitchell; great granddaughter, Elizabeth McBee; his sister, Lucille Sumner; and his brothers, Claude Duncan and Walter E. Duncan, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances D. Duncan; children, Debra Hudson and husband, Joe; Chris Duncan and wife, Marsha; grandchildren, Wendy Belcher, Karen Drake, Jessica Billingsley, Laura Austin, Courtney Hudson, Ryan Hudson, Kaitlyn Mitchell, Alex Duncan and Olivia Duncan; Eleven great grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Bill attended Floyd County High School; he went on to work for many years as a Millwright and was a member of Millwright Local Union 1402. He was known as PawPaw by all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many close friends and family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 820 W. Broadway Avenue, Hopewell, VA 23860. Interment will take place in Southlawn Memorial Park. The Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church in Hopewell or Bon Secours Community Hospice House 1133 Old Bon Air Rd. Richmond, VA 23235.
