William "Billy" E. Brown

William “Billy” Edward Brown 63, of Colonial Heights, went to be with his loved ones in Heaven, on Saturday November 24, 2012. Billy was a lifelong Civil War relic hunter and collector. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two wonderful grandchildren. Billy was the son of the late James Warren & Frances Nell Mimms Brown he was born in Richland South Carolina and was an Army brat most all of his youth, graduated from Prince George High School where he was on the track and field team. He retired from Phillip Morris after 30 dedicated years as a fixer and a long time resident of Colonial Heights. Billy will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his only daughter Mary E. Chappell and her husband Bubba, and his grandchildren Neal & Kendall Chappell all of Dinwiddie. The family will receive friends at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday November 27, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Graveside services will be conducted at Southlawn Memorial Park on Wednesday November 28 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Joe Hammond of Carson UMC officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Petersburg National Battlefield Headquarters 1539 Hickory Hill Road Petersburg, Virginia 23803-4721.
