WAKEFIELD:
William Harvey Crocker, age 71, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at his home. Born in Zuni, VA, on May 1, 1938 he was the son of the late Willie Harvey Crocker and Lovie Lewis Crocker. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years Nell Branch Crocker. Mr. Crocker was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church and a former member of the Zuni Ruritan Club. He retired in 2000 as a Master Shipbuilder in X32 Sheet Metal Dept. at Newport News Shipyard after over 43 years of service. He was also a former employee of Reddâ??s Super Marker, Windsor. William loved people, his family, working in his yard, and going to Dairy Queen.
Survivors include 2 sons; Richard Allen Crocker and his wife, Amy of Windsor and William Gregory Crocker and his wife, Debra of Zuni; 2 daughters; Natalie Crocker Branch and her husband, Eddie, and Tammy Crocker Joyce and her husband, James, all of Wakefield, 10 grandchildren; Kristina, Joshua, Dana, Jamie, Jacob, Daniel, Thomas, Joseph, Nelson, and Little James 3 great-grandchildren; Christian, Jenna, and Dallas; a brother; Ronald Crocker and wife Marinda of Gatesville, N.C; sisters-in-law Judy Powell and Linda Sue Bowden (Rufus); numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Lorraine and Mike. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Hampton and Linda Clements.
Funeral services will be held at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, Zuni on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends at the Purviance Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son, Wakefield on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at other times at the James and Tammy Joyce residence, Wakefield, VA. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to assist the family with medical expenses sent to: Tammy C. Joyce, 7396 Birch Island Road, Wakefield VA 23888.
