William "Gordon" Everhart, passed away peacefully Thanksgiving morning. He was born on October 11, 1933, in New London, NC.
He was the son of the late William Edgar Roswell Everhart, of Myrtle Beach, SC and late Bernice Everhart, of New London, NC.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Pamela Celeste Everhart; and wife of 70 years, Sylvia Clayton Everhart. He is survived by his brother, Steven T. Everhart (Mary), of Santee, South Carolina; as well as two dear friends, Payton Owens and Judy Stevens; and his precious little dog, C.C., of Petersburg, VA.
Gordon developed a love of flying while he was still in high school when his grandmother bought him his first plane.
Gordon enlisted in the Army when he was twenty years old. He served in both the Korean War and the Vietnam war as a helicopter pilot. He retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer. After his retirement he went to work in civil service.
A graveside service will be held at Southlawn Memorial Park, on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be in the mausoleum at 10:00 am. The Reverend Mary Everhart will be presiding.
