Chesterfield resident William M. Freismuth died on January 8, 2010. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1919, Mr. Freismuth lived in Toms River and Fair Haven, NJ, Gordonsville, VA, Elizabeth City, NC, and Lucy Corr Village in Chesterfield, VA. A Navy veteran, he witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor, his job with AT&T led him to help restore overseas telephone services in Europe and South America following the end of World War II; and his travels with his late wife and family led him through North and Central America, as well as stops in Europe, Russia, and the Arctic Circle. Through out his life Mr. Freismuth was active in the Shriners, the Masonic Lodge, the Lutheran Church, Museum of the Albemarle and Pasquotank Board of Elections. On his 90th birthday, Mr. Freismuth looked back on a life lived without regrets. â??All in all, it was a wonderful life,â? he says. â??It was great â?? I have no complaints. If I could do it all over again, Iâ??d do it all the same way.â? Mr. Freismuth was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Theresa B. Morris Freismuth. He is survived by his four children, William, Helen, Martha, and Paul Freismuth.
