William Thomas Hudson, Sr.

William “Billy” Thomas Hudson, Sr., 72, of Gastonia, NC passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Born in Petersburg, VA he was the son of the late William Thomas Drake and Susan Morton Hudson; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Emma McFarland Hudson; a son, William “Willie” Thomas Hudson, Jr.; one brother, Alfred W. Hudson; and two sisters, Doris Jones and Mary Elizabeth Daul. Billy was a 1964 graduate of Petersburg High School where he played on the football and baseball teams. He had retired from CSX as a locomotive engineer after many years of service. Mr. Hudson is survived by his sister, Myrtle Whitmore and husband, Hoyt; a brother, Melvin Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. The family is being served by the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
