William â??Smittyâ? Jackson Smith, age 60, of Chester, VA passed away on Monday, February 5, 2007. He was born in Danville, VA the son of the late Robert William and Zelma Corum Smith. Mr. Smith was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired employee of Deluxe Check Printers after 25 years of service. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Winterpock, VA for approximately 6 years. â??Smittyâ? was an avid CB operator known as â??Pistol Gripâ? and a Technical Inspector, sanctioned by NASCAR, and worked at many area race tracks for approximately 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Becky W. Smith; four children, Wendy S. Shorter and husband Dirk, Michael W. Smith and wife Ramona, Loria Duncan and husband Jamie all of Chesterfield, VA; and Glenn K. Wise and wife Christina of Colonial Heights, VA; three sisters, Florence Bradley and husband John of Emporia, VA, Betty Wesson and husband David of Richmond, VA, and Shirley Lloyd and husband Buck of Broadnax, VA; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA.
