William Thomas James, 93, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born April 1, 1911 in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late, William and Esther Vaughan James. He was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and a retired salesman with Ted Curry Motors. Mr. James was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred H. James. He is survived by two sons, Thomas Lee James, Sr. and wife, Mary and Richard Dan James; a daughter, Mildred Ann Harvill and husband, Chuck all of Dinwiddie; three grandchildren, Thomas L. James, Jr., Johnny Dale James, William Lee James, Sr. and wife, Wanda; three great-grandchildren, William Lee James, Jr. and wife, Sonia, Kimberly James, and Kristina James; and a great-great-grandson, Michael Cox. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Betsy Basehore officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Washington Street UMC, 22 East Washington Street, Petersburg, VA 23803 or Crater Community Hospice, 840 W. Roslyn Road, Suite E, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
