William Paul Koren, 84, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2023. William was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Jean Koren; his parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Koren; and his brother and his wife, David and Lee Koren. He will be remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. William is survived by his two daughters, Kara Canada (Clarke) and Tracy Koren; his two granddaughters, Lindsey Thompson (Michael) and Lauren Engels; four great-grandsons, William Engels and Andrew, Everett, and Owen Thompson; and nieces and nephews, David Koren, Elysia Edmundson, Merri Brandchard, and Andrea Englert.
William was an active member of Nazareth Lutheran Church for his entire life and was very involved in the choir, even receiving a Servant of Christ Award in 2015. He began a career at C&P Telephone Co in 1970, continuing to excel through all of the changes, and ultimately retiring from AT&T in 2003. He enjoyed building model trains, woodworking, and coin collecting in his spare time.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 6:00 pm, at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Chester Chapel, 3050 W Hundred Rd, Chester, VA. A funeral service will take place on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10:00 am, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, 1711 Grant St, Hopewell, VA. Interment will immediately follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome, but the funeral home has asked there be NO GLASS with the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made in William's name to Nazareth Lutheran Church.
